Andy's Charleston Gold Brown Rice is a firm textured, long-grain, aromatic rice, with a wholesome, nutty flavor. Whole grain with the fibroid bran and nutritions gram intact and with a unique green hue noting the presence of natural chlorophyll, the Charleston Gold Brown Rice is firmer and requires a slightly longer cooking time.  Delicious simply boiled or steamed, the rice is also a secret ingredient for adding another layer of flavor to your favorite recipes.

Charleston Gold is a modern revival of Carolina’s legendary gold rice tradition. Developed from historic Carolina Gold lineage it is grown in our tidal South Carolina rice fields in South Carolina.  Our whole grain Charleston Gold Brown rice is firmer and requires a slightly longer cooking time.

A hearty, firm-textured, long grain, aromatic rice with a wholesome, nutty and earthy flavor. 

Unlike modern rice that is often grown in sandy clay and harvested from multiple growers, we grow our rice in peaty fields that are mineral and nutrient rich.  We’re close enough to the ocean to flood our fields by the motion of the tides, but far enough inland to receive natural freshwater river irrigation which makes for delicious rice and a more sustainable farming method.

Delicious simply boiled or steamed.  This rice is also a secret ingredient for adding another layer of flavor to your favorite recipes.  Or use as a gluten-free alternative for farro or orzo.  For best results we recommend cooking ‘pasta style’ by bringing a pot of salted water to a boil.  Add rice, cover halfway and reduce heat.  Simmer for roughly 30 minutes, drain and serve.
