Andy's Charleston Gold Rice Middlins is firm-textured, aromatic rice, with a wholesome, nutty flavor. Middlins are rice kernels that are broken during milling, favored by South Carolina's Lowcountry cooks for centuries. The smaller kernel makes midlins perfect for rice grits or risotto.
Our seed is non-GMO and certified by the Texas Rice institute. The earth here is peaty, rich in minerals and nutrients, a wonderful environment for growing Charleston Gold Rice.
Harvested in late summer, our rice is naturally gluten-free and grown in tidal rice fields that are irrigated with river water, not groundwater. We use traditional rotational crop methods as part of our land stewardship program.
After the harvest, the rice is dried, cleaned, and put in cold storage to maximize its freshness. We mill and bag the rice when orders are placed to ensure top-notch flavor and quality. After opening, please refrigerate or freeze for optimal flavor. The rice will last for years in the freezer.
